Description

Fritware painted in polychrome under a colourless glaze

Fritware, mould made, painted in red slip, blue, green and black under a colourless glaze
Shape: segmental bowl with a flange rim, sits on a low, wide foot ring
Interior: on the rim a rock wave pattern is painted in blue, black and green. On the cavetto, enclosing the roundel, a frieze of green waves and red dashes is painted. In the roundel a rumi style arabesques are highlighted with blue and green and reserved in red slip.
Exterior: on the body blue stylised waves and fleurs de lys are outlined in black. Glaze is pitted and covers the surface except for the rim of the foot ring.
