Production: Unidentified Delft factory
Tin-glazed earthenware painted in blue, green, yellow, and red
Buff earthenware, moulded in two parts, tin-glazed pale greyish-blue, and painted in blue, dark green, yellow, and red. The oval pot has straight sides which curve inwards towards the top, and are moulded in relief on both sides with the same design of raised plants and leaves. Inside the top there is a ledge on which the cover rests. The oval cover is solidly moulded a recumbent sheep surrounded by a low bank moulded in relief with flowers and buds. Its underside is unglazed. The exterior is painted green overall with the raised plants picked out in blue yellow and red. The sheep is yellow overall with blue facial features, and a leaf-shape on its tail. On the underside of the pot there are four blue dots close together.
