Cauliflower Tureen
Production: Unidentified Delft factory
Earthenware, moulded, tin-glazed and painted in dark blue, green, and yellow to resemble a cauliflower
Buff earthenware, moulded in two parts, tin-glazed pale blue and painted in dark blue, green, and yellow. Three spur marks on the base. The tureen is modelled and decorated to resemble a cauliflower lying on its side, but is pale blue with groups of dark blue spots where a real cauliflower would be off-white or pale yellow. The green leaves have very dark blue veins.
History note: Mr Willoughby,Hunstanton, from whom purchased with its pair for 10s .0d. on 26 April 1901 by Dr J.W.L. Glaisher, FRS, Trinity College, Cambridge.
