Description

Earthenware, press-moulded in two parts, tin-glazed pale duck egg blue, and painted on the exterior in blue, green, yellow, brown, manganese-purple, and black. The oval tureen is in the shape of a melon with part of the stalk on the lower part, and a tendril with four leaves, two flowers, and an undeveloped fruit on the upper part. The melon is yellow with streaky markings in brown at either end. The stalk and tendril are manganese-purpe, and the leaves green and yellow with black veins. One flower has blue petals and a yellow and black centre, the other, red petals and a yellow and black centre. The undeveloped melon is brown and yellow. The leaf-shaped stand is green.
