Goat
Production: The Ewer Factory
Earthenware figure of a goat, tin-glazed and painted in green and shades of manganese-purple
Buff earthenware, moulded, tin-glazed and painted in dark green and shades of manganese-purple. The goat is supported on a rectangular base with sloping sides which is hollow underneath and is painted dark green. The goat is standing in profile to the viewer with its head turned slightly to its right. Its horns are missing. Its body is streaked with shades of manganese-purple except for the hooves and tail which are solid colour. there is a ventilation hole under the tail. A pair with C.2751A-1928

A pair of recument goats of similar type but marked AP for Anthonij Pennis of the Two Little Ships Factory are in the Metropolitan Museum of Art, New York (inv. no. 60.215.1,2).
The Ewer Factory (De Lampetkan) operated in Delft between 1609 and 1811. The mark LPK was used from the 1749s until the end of the factory, also LPKan. The animal figures probably date from about 1760 to 1785.
