This jug was probably made by one of the potteries operating in the Blackwater Valley on the Hampshire-Surrey border, possibly at Farnborough. The off-white earthenware with green lead-glaze made in this area was formerly known as 'Tudor Green Ware' but was being made from the end of the 14th century, and is now known as Hampshire-Surrey border ware.
