Description

Hybrid hard-paste porcelain, painted in red, green, blue, purple and pink enamels with scattered flowers and the monogram CB.

Hybrid hard-paste porcelain, painted in red, green, blue, purple and pink enamels. The cylindrical mug has a ribbed and scaled loop handle, with heart-shaped thumbpiece and kick terminal. It is inscribed with the monogram CB in flowing pink script on a ground dotted with floral sprigs, the rim with a blue line border.

History note: Bought by Mr S Fenton at the sale of the Merton Thoms Collection, Christie, Manson & Woods, 11th February 1910, lot 179, £1 11s 6d, on behalf of Dr Glaisher.
