Description

Fritware painted in polychrome under a colourless glaze

Fritware, mould made, painted with red slip, blue, green and black under a colourless, crazed and pitted glaze
Shape: straight, cylindrical body, with plain rim and sitting on a foot ring. A flat, angular handle fixed along the length of the body.
Exterior: below the rim and above the foot ring a frieze of half rosettes with red central dots are reserved in blue. On the body, floral sprays of red or blue flowers are interspersed with red and blue heart shaped arabesque and green or blue quatre-foils. Blue lines are painted on the handle. Glaze, which is crazed, covers the surface except for the rim of the foot ring.
Interior: covered with a pitted glaze but otherwise undecorated.
