Description

Fritware painted in polychrome under a colourless glaze

Fritware, probably mould made, painted in blue, black and red under a colourless glaze
Shape: pear shaped body with slightly flared neck sitting on a foot ring. A strap handle is attached below the rim and on the shoulder.
Exterior: a black chevron frieze is painted on the rim and combined with a green scalloped line on the shoulder. On the neck and body alternating blue and white elongated petals are painted with a black or red central spine. On the lower body, scrolling and concentric black lines are painted. On the handle blue lines are painted. Glaze covers the surface except for the lower half of the foot ring.
Interior: Glazed but otherwise undecorated.
