Lady holding a Fan
Factory: Nymphenburg Porcelain Factory
Glazed hard-paste porcelain
Creamy-white hard-paste porcelain, moulded, and clear glazed except for the edge of the underside of the base. The figure is supported on a narrow triangular base which slopes backwards to the viewer’s right on the narrow edge at the front. It has shallow curved sides, and a small circular ventilation hole in the middle of the underside. The elongated, slender woman steps forward on her right leg, and has both arms held out in front of her, the left hand holding a partly closed fan, and the right hand, a rose bud. Her hair is drawn back into a plait down the back of her head and is secured in the nape of her neck by a bow. She wears a sack-back dress with a train, bows at the top and bottom of the stomacher, and on the front of each sleeve above the elbow. A rose is pinned to her left breast.
