Earthenware with interlacing star patterns and the words *MRS CUSFORD*FEBRUARY*19*1795* inlaid in cream slip under lead glaze
Red earthenware, thrown, and inlaid with white clay under yellowish lead-glaze. The cannister is cylindrical with slanting shoulders, and has a flat-topped lid. Round the middle is the name and date, 'MRS CUSFORD*FEBRUARY* 19*1795* inlaid in white slip. The decoration of stars is arranged in several rows of interlaced semicircles.
History note: Mr J Allen, Llangblodwed Vicarage, Oswestry, sent to Cambridge on approval on 26 October 26 1928, and purchased for £10 by Dr J.W.L. Glaisher, FRS, Trinity College, Cambridge
