Note

On accession this figure was attributed to a Sussex pottery, but its body and glaze are similar to the pair of lions (C.182A & B-1928) which are inscribed as made by H. Davies at the Pill Pottery, Newport (Monmouthshire). A figure of a less abject seated beggar with two dogs, inscribed 'Lazrus' (sic) is in the Newport Museum and Art Gallery (1947.512)
