Yellow-glazed earthenware transfer-printed in black
Yellow-glazed cream earthenware transfer-printed onglaze in black. The teapot stands on a footring, and has a globular body with a tall, slightly everted gallery, gently curved spout, and loop handle. The domed cover is pierced by a steam hole, and has a flat button-shaped finial. Under its rim there is a flange which rests on a ledge inside the gallery of the teapot. Both sides of the pot are decorated with the same rural scene featuring two peasant women standing on a bank, and a man with a girl mounted behind him on horseback. The inside and outside of the gallery are decorated with a floral border below a row of adjacent circles. The back of the handle is decorated with a spray of flowers, and there is an arrangement of flowers at the bottom of the spout, and two sprigs at the top. The cover is decorated wth groups of flowers and a row of adjacent circles, and there is a flower on the finial.
