Description

Dish. Hard-paste porcelain painted in soft clear enamel tones of blue, iron-red, turquoise, aubergine and two greens with details in black and gilding with a seated maiden reading a book.

Dish. Hard-paste porcelain painted in soft clear enamel tones of blue, iron-red, turquoise, aubergine and two greens with details in black and gilding. The sides are shallow and well rounded with an outcurved rim slightly angled above the very low, tapered foot. The interior is decorated with a maiden reading a book seated on a rockwork platform, a tall rocky pedestal to her left supporting a gilt censer and an ornamental red table to her right with a vase containing a prunus branch. The palette includes an unusual rich olive-coloured enamel.
