From a set of watercolours originally bound in four volumes, a record of Sir Richard Colt Hoare's journey along the Via Appia in 1789, which he described in his 'Recollections Abroad' during the years 1788, 1789, 1790, II, 1815, pp. 259-334, and later in his 'A Classical Tour through Italy and Sicily', 1819, pp. 57-118.
