Production: Unidentified Deruta pottery (Probably)
Pale buff earthenware, tin-glazed on both sides and painted in blue, yellow, orange and brown.Concave fragment of irregular outline.Painted with the head and right arm of a Bishop in the act of Benediction with background of sky. On the reverse, two yellow lines near the edge.
History note: Purportedly from a pozzo in Orvieto. Collection of Signor Avvocato Arcangelo Marcioni or Cavaliere Capitano Ferdinando Lucatelli; purchased by Bernard Rackham (1876-1964) from their agent, Fenton, Cranbourne Street, shortly after the sale of their collections at Sotheby's on 16-17 February, 1914, but not included in it.
