Description

Earthenware with applied and excised decoration under a turquoise glaze

Buff earthenware, largely wheel thrown with applied and excised decoration covered in a pitted turquoise alkaline glaze
Shape: inverted pear shape body with a narrowing neck and triangular rim, eight loop handles are attached to the neck and upper body, sits on a disc base.
Exterior: below the rim a band of excised horizontal lozenges. On the body, applied decoration incorporates an ā€˜Sā€™ shaped cable pattern and impressed discs above and below the cable. Glaze covers the surface to the edge of the base.
Interior: glaze covers the surface.
