Description

Earthenware with applied and excised decoration under a turquoise glaze

Buff earthenware, largely wheel thrown with applied and excised decoration covered in a pitted turquoise alkaline glaze
Shape: inverted pear shape body with a narrowing neck and triangular rim, eight loop handles are attached to the neck and upper body, sits on a disc base.
Exterior: below the rim a band of excised horizontal lozenges. On the body, applied decoration incorporates an ‘S’ shaped cable pattern and impressed discs above and below the cable. Glaze covers the surface to the edge of the base.
Interior: glaze covers the surface.
