Hard-paste porcelain figure of a seated stocking mender listening to a starling.
Hard-paste biscuit porcelain, press-moulded. The stocking mender is seated on a seat made out of a barrel which stands on shallow mounds on straight-sided circular base. Her head is inclined to her right as she listens to the starling, which is not present. There is a mending basket on her right inside the barrel. Over the top of the seat there are two curved staves from which is suspended a drapery which extends down to the seat on the viewer's right. A pair with C.43-1981
