Frtiwate with white and blue glaze painted in lustre
Buff fritware, wheel thrown, with an opaque white glaze on the exterior and a streaked, pitted blue glaze on the interior both slightly crazed and painted with yellow-brown lustre.
Shape: bowl with slightly bulbous vertical sides and an everted rim descending via a carination onto a moderately high foot ring.
Exterior: Central frieze on the body comprises foliated vegetation and palmettes painted in reverse against a lustred background, it is contained above and below by a concentric band of lustre. The interior of each leaf and stem is outlined in a single painted lustre line. Glaze covers the body to the upper part of the foot ring and splashed spots of light blue, from the interior glaze, are visible at two points.
Interior: A concentric band of lustre paint decorates the rim over a blue glaze.
