Brown earthenware coated in a cream slip carved under a clear glaze
Pinkish brown earthenware, wheel thrown, coated in a white slip, carved, reserved in brown and covered with a clear glaze.
Shape: hemispherical bowl with a plain rim, on a disc base
Interior: on the upper body a frieze of scrolling, leafy vines is incised through the cream slip against a brown reserved background. A scar on the base indicates contact with another vessel or a use of a tripod stacking device in the kiln. A clear glaze coloured with streaks of brown covers the surface.
Exterior: a cream slip coated in a clear glaze covers the surface to the lower body.
