Fritware painted in black, blue and turquoise under a clear glaze
Pinkish fritware, wheel thrown, painted in black, blue and turquoise under a clear glaze.
Shape: hemispherical bowl with plain rim and sitting on a low foot ring.
Interior: rim is painted black under a radiating panel design on the body. This design comprises wedge shaped panels containing three different designs separated by an eight pointed cross, with narrow arms painted alternately blue or turquoise and outlined in black. Panel designs contain either black calligraphy on a dotted background, or blue cross hatching with black dots over a roughly drawn blue arabesque, or black dots framed by blue linear patterns. Above both the dotted and calligraphic panels, roughly drawn black cartouche containing dots are flanked, or separated by, blue vertical lines.
Exterior: the rim is painted with a black band below which a black concentric line delineates a lotus petal pattern on the body comprising blue lines and black dotted lines that radiate from the lower body. Glaze runs over the surface, ending on the lower body.
