Description

Red stoneware decorated with engine-turning

Red dry-bodied stoneware, thrown, with applied foot, and knob, decorated with engine-turning. Circular with deep curved sides, standing on a gadrooned footring. The circular convex cover has a hemi-spherical knob with a raised apex. The exterior of the bowl is decorated overall with engine-turned wavy horizontal lines with groups of five vertical ridges at intervals.T he cover has radiating concentric wavy circles with six groups of radiating vertical ridges. The knob is undecorated.
