Description

Fritware painted in black under a turquoise glaze

Buff, powdery fritware, possibly moulded, painted in black under turquoise glaze.
Shape: irregular fragment of foot ring
Interior: on the base within a roundel of black concentric designs, a pointed star is painted against a hatched design. Within the star, painted in reserve against a black background a spiral with projecting leaves ends in a palmette design. Scar marks indicate the use of a tripod stacking device in the kiln.
Exterior: undecorated
