Fritware painted in black and blue under a clear glaze
Fritware, moulded, painted in blue and black under a clear glaze
Shape: ovalar flattened body with neck tapering onto a small tulip-shaped mouth
Exterior: decoration is painted in reserve against a blue background with black outline and detail coinciding with raised areas of the moulded form; in places the blue background has bled into the outlined forms. On the mouth a frieze of leaves and flowers is contained between and separated by white bands. On the body hunting scenes are surrounded by leafy folliage on which birds are perching. On one face, a crouching gunman wearing a hat and long sleeved tunic, with a pouch and dagger hanging from his belt, aims his gun at a prancing deer and stalk. On the opposite face the hunter carries his prey around his shoulders; facing him a smaller kneeling figure, with long hair and a hat, picks a bottle from a stand containing other vessels. Above the base a narrow white band and two black concentric lines is painted. The underside of the base is glazed but there is no mark.
Interior: the glazed white surface of the vessel is visible on the interior.
