Fritware painted in blue under a clear glaze
Fritware, probably wheel thrown, painted in blue under a clear glaze
Shape: pear shaped bottle with out-turned rim, sitting on a low foot ring base
Exterior: decoration is painted in blue which has run slightly into surrounding areas. On the neck, a vertical frieze of floral sprays is separated by lines. On the remainder of the body four horizontal friezes are painted, all enclosed by concentric lines. On the lower neck wide triangles contain scrolls; on the shoulder a cable pattern of intertwined pointed leaves is above a wide band of floral sprays comprising rosettes and acanthus leaves; on the lower body lotus leaves are painted. Glaze leaves small areas uncovered on the body and runs unevenly onto the exterior foot ring, although the underside of the base is also glazed but without any mark.
Interior: glazed, no other decoration visible.
