Description

Fritware coated in white slip painted in blue under a colourless glaze

Fritware, mould made, coated in a white slip painted in two shades of blue under a pitted, colourless glaze
Shape: oval body narrowing into two spouts of different size and two loops with a strap handle on the upper body; sits on a low foot ring.
External: on the body floral sprays arranged in a vertical frieze. On the sides a cypress tree decorated with rosettes and surrounded by scrolling floral sprays. On the base, a concentric band of dotted lozenges, while on the underside of the foot ring a floral spray is painted. Scar marks indicate use of a tripod stacking device used in the kiln. Glaze does not cover the rim of the foot ring.
