Factory: Unidentified Staffordshire factory
Off-white stoneware, thrown in two parts, with applied decoration simulating feathers, brown slip eyes and claws, and salt-glazed. On the head and body there are the stumps of missing handles
History note: Unknown owner in Leamington; Mr George Stonor, London, from whom bought for £60 on 10 December 1915 by Dr J.W.L. Glaisher, Trinity College, Cambridge.

This owl is much cruder than the other white salt-glazed stoneware owl jug in the Glaisher Collection, C. 497-1928. A comparable example is in the British Museum, inv. no. 1972,0503.1.
