Fritware painted in blue under a clear glaze
Fritware, wheel thrown and moulded, painted in blue under a clear, pitted glaze.
Shape: vase shaped mouth with a collared neck on a bulbous body sitting on a low foot ring. An angled convex spout is attached to the body and a strap handle is attached to the neck and lower body.
Exterior: the body is decorated with four friezes all contained within concentric lines. Three of these friezes are painted on the upper body comprising blue cylinders round the rim, floral sprays on the neck and scrolling tendrils and leaves on the shoulder. On the main body medallions containing peaches at the centre of a floral spray are framed above by a band of commas, bracketed line and leaves and below by scalloped lines. A blue line is drawn around the foot ring. A floral spray with a feathery flower climbs up the spout and is framed by dots. The handle is painted with a simple chevron pattern. Glaze covers the exterior except for the rim of the foot ring.
Interior: the rim is painted with a bracketed line, the interior is glazed.
