Production: Unidentified Staffordshire Pottery
White salt-glazed stoneware teapot with mould-applied reliefs representing the capture of Portobello, and Admiral Vernon.
Off-white stoneware, thrown and facetted, with rouletted, and mould-applied decoration, and salt-glaze. The teapot is small, with a short, high and curved hexagonal spout, and a tall looped handle. The body is facetted, with twelve panels above which is a horizontal border rouletted with a braid like pattern. The high-domed lid has a flange underneath. On top it has eight facets, a ventilation hole, and a tall cylindrical finial. The panels on the sides are decorated with a lion, a man, leaves, flowers, scrolling, and a crown.
