Description

The cup has a wide ovoid bowl painted in red with a peony head and leaves on a green ground. The exterior has a broad band of red peonies and leaves symmetrically disposed on a green ground above a border of red false gadroons and red and green stiff leaves on the stem

History note: Bought from Sotheby's May 12th 1953, part of the R. C. Bruce Collection, by The Friends of the Fitzwilliam Museum. Mentioned as being part of the D. Winkworth Collection
