Production: Unidentified Staffordshire Pottery
White salt-glazed stoneware, thrown, with applied moulded decoration
Off white stoneware, thrown, decorated with mould applied reliefs and incising, and salt-glazed. The tall pear shaped body has a cylindrical neck with a wide pointed lip, and stands on three feet each moulded with a lion;'s face and paw. The reeded loop handle has a kick at the lower end. The reliefs on one side of the nack are a fleur-de-lys, a group of leaves and a larger leaf, and on the other, three buds, a group of leaves, and a bird. Near the base of the jug is an incised design of triangles and arcs formed by lines of varying length.
