Description

White salt-glazed stoneware with three legs and applied moulded reliefs

Off-white salt-glazed stoneware with mould-applied reliefs and moulded feet. The pear-shaped jug has a sparrow's beak lip, three applied feet moulded to resemble lion's paws, and an applied ear-shaped strap handle with an upward 'kick' at the lower end. A turned horizontal line runs round the upper edge, and another round the base level with the top of the feet. The front is decorated with mould-applied sprigs: a central five-petalled flower-head with different arrangements of scrollwork and stylized plant motifs above, below, and on either side of it.
