Potter: Unknown
Fritware, painted in black and blue under a clear glaze
Pinky fritware, wheel thrown, painted in black and blue under a clear, slightly crazed glaze.
Shape: carinated bowl with plain rim and low, narrow foot ring
Interior: rim is painted black and, on the neck, a pair of black concentric lines delineates a pattern of four inter-connected lobed cartouches on the body. The cartouches are defined by a thick black line, incised with āCā shapes, painted against a blue cross-hatched background containing four black and turquoise triangles at regular intervals on the upper edge. Within the lobbed cartouches, a rough star shape is drawn on each arm and a diamond on the base, both outlined in black with a border of blue and turquoise dots. The star shapes contain a central black palmette drawn against a black dotted background, while the diamond contains black leafy foliage against a blue background.
Exterior: the rim is painted black. On the body, black concentric lines contain two friezes one comprising a narrow black guilloche pattern and the other scrolling dots and lines separated by blue vertical lines. Glaze runs over the lower body and onto the upper section of the foot ring.
