White salt-glazed stoneware in the form of a tree stump with birds perching in its branches, and a stag crouching on the base
White stoneware, moulded in parts, assembled and salt-glazed. The candlestick is in the form of a gnarled tree-stump with four branches and at the top, a candle socket formed by overlapping leaves. Separately moulded flowers and leaves are applied to it, and six small birds perch at intervals on the branches and trunk. The trunk rises from a flat base on which is a crouching stag, and applied leaves and flowers. The underside of the base is flat and is pierced by two ventilation holes under the stag.
