Unidentified Staffordshire factory (Factory)


White salt-glazed stoneware plate with pierced border

Off-white stoneware, press-moulded, pierced, and salt-glazed. The plate is circular with a scalloped edge and pierced lattice rim, shallow sides and flat centre decorated with basketwork radiating from a central medallion divided into eight striated sections.


History note: Sotheby's, 23 April, 1926, part of lot 5; both bought for £2 by Hunt for Dr J.W.L. Glaisher, FRS, Trinity College, Cambridge
