Fritware coated in a white slip painted in blue, turquoise and black under a clear glaze
Fritware coated in a white slip and painted in two shades of blue, turquoise and black under a clear glaze.
Shape: segmental bowl with a flaring rim sits on a narrow, low foot ring
Interior: all decoration is outlined in black. On the rim, painted in reserve against a blue background, stylised leaves and flowers are represented by criss-cross lines and dots highlighted with purple and turquoise. On the body, central green scrolling hyacinth stems with purple flowers are surrounded by further stems with blue rosette flowers. A series of scar marks on the base indicates the use of a tripod stacking device in the kiln.
Exterior: on the body, a series of black dashed lines are painted above blue ovals outlined in black with white central dot which alternate with black scrolled lines coloured with turquoise. Glaze covers the lower body unevenly; the rim of the foot ring is uncovered but there is glaze on the underside.
