White salt-glazed stoneware with relief decoration.
White stoneware press-moulded with integral relief decoration, and salt-glazed. Circular with a scalloped edge, gently sloping rim, and curved well, standing on a very slight footring. In the middle is a circular medallion with a rope edge, enclosing a triangular arrangement of rococo scrolls surrounded by tightly woven basketwork. Outside the medallion there are panels of trellis work and stripes surrounded by rococo scrolls, and pears, melons, apples, and nuts and leaves in relief. The rim is decorated with basketwork.
History note: Ownership unknown before Mrs W. D. Dickson, Bournemouth, who gave it on 14 October 1926 to Dr J.W.L. Glaisher, FRS, Trinity College, Cambridge

This dish is similar to C.558-1928 but has no pierced holes in the basketwork border. The fruit motifs probably indicate that it was intended to be used for fruit or nuts in the dessert course of dinner.
