Cornucopia Wall Pocket
Unidentified Staffordshire factory
(Production)
Brownish-black and white clay agateware, press-moulded in two halves, joined, and decorated with cobalt oxide before salt-glazing. The flower holder is in the shape of a cornucopia with wrythen fluting on the lower part, a wavy top, and a partly flat back pierced at the top by two holes for suspension. The front is decorated in cobalt with three broad short diagonal strokes, three spots, and a band round the top edge.
