Potter: Unknown (Possibly)
Earthenware coated in a cream slip, painted in four colours under a clear glaze
Buff earthenware, coated in a cream slip painted blue, purple, turquoise and black under a clear slightly crazed glaze.
Shape: segmental bowl, thickly potted with an angled lip and slight carination in the body, sits on a narrow, low foot ring
Interior: the rim is painted blue, while on the lip roughly fish are outlined in black and contain a large blue dot. On the remainder of the vessel all decoration is outlined in black and filled with blue, purple or turquoise colour. On the body, paired turquoise and purple petals are framed above and below by blue dots painted within a rough tailed semi-circle. In the roundel, a lion with large purple spots walks amongst a landscape of blue leaves and two turquoise cypress trees with blue core. Scars on the base may indicate the use of a tripod stacking device in the kiln.
Exterior: blue paint continues onto the rim exterior. On the upper body, four roughly drawn turquoise spirals, one of which is splashed with turquoise, are painted at regular intervals. The glaze runs unevenly from the mid point on the body, ending on the lower body; the remainder of the cream slip is visible on the remainder of the surface.
