Description

Fritware, painted in blue and black under a turquoise glaze

Fritware, wheel thrown, painted in blue and black under a turquoise glaze.
Shape: T-shaped rim on a segmental bowl with a low foot ring
Interior: rim is painted blue, on the neck a thick black band delineates black arabesque decoration on the body comprising scrolling tendrils and leaves that emanate from a central cross.
Exterior: a black band covers the rim edge and the neck above a frieze of sinuous water weeds separated by a vertical line with central ā€˜Vā€™ shape. Glaze runs unevenly over the exterior and in places onto the foot ring.
