Description

Fritware painted in blue under a colourless glaze

Fritware painted in blue under a colourless glaze
Shape: plain rim on a cylindrical body widening onto a low foot ring, angular handle attached to the length of the body
Exterior: two friezes of complex meandering scrollwork are painted on the upper and lower body respectively; these are framed by lines of dashes and a narrow band of semi-circles. Further, more simplified bands of meandering scroll work are below the rim, above the base and on the handle. The base is glazed except for the rim of the foot ring; small scars on surface of the glaze on the lower body.
Interior: undecorated except for surface glaze.
