White stoneware, slip-cast with decoration in relief, and salt-glazed
White stoneware, slip-cast with decoration in relief, and salt-glazed. Circular with deep sides, standing on a footring; loop handle is reeded and has a pinched lower terminal. The exterior is decorated with eight panels containing: a shield charged with three animals and figures below; a fox stealing a goose, with a head in a wreath above; the fable of the Fox and the Crane, and Cupid on a lion; Danae amongst clouds above a unicorn; a huntsman with a hound; a shield above a stag with a bird below (very indistinct); a tea party scene with a large tea pot (very indistinct); and an imperial eagle, Below the rim there is a narrow border of fluting.

This was probably used for coffee or chocolate. The relief decoration is not well defined as on other examples of this form, which suggests that the mould had been used a good deal. The panels are in a different order from those on C.584-1928
