Description

White stoneware, the body thrown, with applied handle, spout, and knob on the cover, salt-glazed and painted in blue, turquoise, green, red, mauve, and black enamels

White salt-glazed stoneware painted in polychrome enamels with Chinese figures among flowering plants and rocks in imitation of Chinese 'famille rose' porcelain

White salt-glazed stoneware painted in blue, turquoise, green, red, mauve, and black enamels. The truncated conical pot has a flat loop handle with a kick at its lower end, a tall curved spout terminating in a monster's head, and a shallow domed cover with an acorn-shaped knob. On one side there is an elegant Chinese woman holding a flower standing beside a fence, and on the other a seated Chinese man holding a red parasol, and a standing woman, flanked by flowering plants growing from the ground and from tall stylized rocks. Round the top of the pot there is a border of turquoise Chinese trellis diaper broken by panels of flowers. Both sides of the spout are decorated with a long spray of small red leaves. The cover is decorated with a spray of flowers, and a border matching that on the pot.
