Description

Earthenware coated in a carved cream or green coloured slip under a colourless glaze

Buff earthenware, probably wheel thrown, coated with cream slip carved on the interior and reserved in brown, coloured with green on the exterior, all covered with a colourless glaze.
Shape: conical bowl with slightly in-turned rim sits on a disc base
Interior: covered with a cream slip incised on the upper body to form a cable frieze and a band of medallions, both reserved in brown. Covered in a colourless glaze. Three small scar marks on the base indicates the use of a tripod stacking device in the kiln.
Exterior: the upper body is coated in a cream slip coloured with green and covered with a colourless glaze.
