Description

White salt-glazed stoneware

Off-white stoneware, press-moulded with decoration in relief, and salt-glazed Circular with cusped and wavy edge, deep sides and flat central area. The rim is moulded in relief with alternating panels of trellis containing either five dots or an asterisk, and basket-weave flanked by scrolls.

Note

This border is one of those most common on white salt-glazed dishes, and was produced by many potters. If not made in north Staffordshire the dish might have been made in Yorkshire, at Swinton or after 1770 at Leeds
