Factory: Unidentified Staffordshire Pottery
Creamware decorated with underglaze oxides.
Lead-glazed creamware decorated with greyish-blue, green and purple underglaze oxides. The teapot has a globular body with crabstock handle and spout and stands on three feet, moulded to resemble paws with lion masks. The knob of the lid is moulded in the shape of a bird.
History note: Provenance unknown before Mr Harvey, Bournemouth; Mr Harvey sold on 18 July 1918 for £7.7 to Dr J.W.L. Glaisher, FRS, Trinity College, Cambridge.
