Buff fireclay, hand-modelled with paler buff and brown details under transparent glaze. The clown stands on an oval base. He is bow-legged and holds his left hand up to his left cheek. His right arm is stretched out to the side and rests on a hoop. He wears a pale buff clown's hat, a pale buff ruff and brown shoes. There is a brown bobble on his hat, three on his body, and one on each wrist and ankle. The hoop is covered with a pale buff skin which has been split by the samll long-eared dog which is jumping through it. The dog has a brown nose and wears a star-shaped ruff.
