Yellow-glazed earthenware tea bowl and saucer, bat-printed onglaze brownish-red with a couple taking tea out-of-doors. Red enamel bands round rim and foot.
Tea bowl. Yellow-glazed earthenware, bat-printed onglaze in red, and painted in brownish-red enamel. Circular deep-sided cup standing on a footring. Circular saucer with deep, curved sides, standing on a footring. The cup is decorated on both sides with a couple taking tea out-of-doors. They sit on a settee with a circular tea table in fron of them, accompanied by a small dog who sits expectantly on the right. Behind them is a tree, and on the right, part of a balustrade and some plants. On the left, a servant stands pouring water from a kettle into a tea pot. There is a broad brownish-red band round the foot and rim, and a narrow band round the interior, about a third of the way down. The interior of the saucer is decorated with a similar subject, differing in small details. It is surrounded by a narrow band and there is wider band round the rim.
