Fritware coated in black slip carved under a turquoise
Fritware, wheel thrown, coated in a black slip, carved under a turquoise glaze
Shape: hemispherical bowl with a slightly everted rim, sits on a foot ring.
Interior: on the body, a frieze of palmette leaves is carved on a cross hatch background. In the roundel a griffin is surrounded by scrolling vegetation including split palmettes.
Exterior: black pigment from the interior, stains the rim in places. Glaze covers the surface to the foot ring.
