Pew Group of a seated Man and Woman
Production: Unknown
White salt-glazed stoneware, decorated with piercing and with brown clay and slip datails. The couple are seated on narrow settle, the high back of which is pierced by a cross surrounded by four small circles alternating with four hearts. Above is a narrow strip of clay decorated with stamped flowers. The top of the settle has been broken off in an irregular sloping line. The arms are striped in brown and white clay, and the lower part of its back is pierced by six arched openings of unequal size. Both figures are facing the front. The woman wears a pleated cap, a brown necklace, a brown stomacher into which she has tucked her fan, a bodice with spotted sleeves and brown cuffs, a brown and white striped skirt and a long white apron. Her hands are clasped in front of her over her skirt. The man sits with his feet apart and his hands resting on his thighs. He wears a long curling wig, a waistcoat and coat with many button holes, and shoes with a brown pseudo-pompom.
